TEAR is an 6min. experiment in abstract film making in the digital realm. In the vein of great abstract/avant filmmakers like Maya Deren and Stan Brakhage, TEAR uses old-school film techniques coupled with today's digital tools to tell a story.

The story that TEAR tells remains open to the interpretation of the viewer. Filmed in one day, the natural environment serves as a scenic backdrop to the rather unnatural events that take place within the frame. The music, recorded live in four takes, also captures the impermanence that is existence.
 
The essence of TEAR is that reality lies in the interpretation. Our memories of a lost loved one or a past event are often all that remain of that person's moment in time. Imperfect recollection is what TEAR strives to illuminate: is it the historical facts or our impressions of them that really matter? I believe that the movie is never the same twice.
